The hidden slider is a nice feature to hold website information for anything you
subtly would like to draw attention to, but not give up the real estate involved
in having it visible when the page loads. It is ideal for “Specials” or “Contact”
or “Social Media” type messages.
You need a panel to hold all the objects (whatever they might be). You also need
an object to have an ID that opens on hover:
- “panel_2” - panel containing all the objects
- “open4” - on a QS covering panel with word “Specials” and the panel to apply the
“hover” action to
Attached the panel to the right edge of the browser (or left) via the “Panel Properties”
dialog.
You need to have a call in for jquery in the <head> section. Here I used:
- <script src="js/jquery-1.8.2.js"></script>
The scripts to open and close the panel are placed just before the end of the body
“</body>” and can be seen when you view the source for this page “Alt-S”.
The location of the panel and slide distance are done trial and error and must be
amended if you resize the panel. The is performed in the script section described
above. The hidden slider can be located on either side of the browser window as
desired.
The speed of the transition is also amended through the script variables.
